About Clare…
Clare Elsom is a children's illustrator and author.
She is the creator of young fiction series Horace & Harriet, and has illustrated dozens of other children’s books, including the popular Flying Fergus series written by Olympic champion Sir Chris Hoy and Joanna Nadin, Furry Friends by Holly Webb, The Great Dodo Comeback by Fiona Sandiford and Superheroes Don’t Get Scared by Kate Thompson.
Clare studied illustration at Falmouth University (lots of drawing) and has an MA in Children's Literature from Roehampton University (lots of writing).
After living in London for several years she ran away to beautiful Devon with her husband and young sons, and in her spare time likes paddle boarding, tap dancing and reading about dinosaurs. She also runs the popular Exeter Life Drawing classes.
Clare regularly visits schools, appears at literary festivals and was even on Blue Peter with her illustrations (she's hoping for another invite). Besides freelancing in illustration, she also worked for five years as an Illustration Agent.
